Noah’s Ark at the Creation Museum

I realize that to some the story of Noah’s Ark is just a story and the Creation Museum is something that some view as a waste of space and money. My intention is to not provoke you either way…this blog is not for that purpose. But I want to share a picture from my visit to the Creation Museum.
Personally I have been fasincated by the story of Noah’s Ark for as long as I can remember, so when I discovered an entire room devoted to it at the Creation Museum I was very excited. I took more pictures in that space than I did in any other spot.
The room itself had various models of the ark throughout the story. The picture below shows the animals boarding the ark. I really loved the colors and textures they had throughout each model. I recommend clicking on the link and viewing the larger size of the picture so you can really see the detail they put into it.
The Sun and It’s Bokeh

Have you ever had one of those moments where the sun peaks through the limbs of a tree and really captures your attention? I had one of those moments on my recent adventure to the Withrow Nature Peserve.
This picture is from that moment. I wanted to the tree limbs to be the focus so I could capture how the sun was peaking through them. In photographic terms, I wanted to bokeh out the sun so I could show how my eye was seeing it. (Bokeh is basically when the background is kinda blurred out so doesn’t take away from the subject of the picture.)
The Devil Wears Prada

Concert photography used to be something I did every weekend. (Working as a team leader at a concert venue helped my ability to see and shot various bands.)
I have always loved the rush of a good concert…the lights, the energy of the crowd, and the thump of the bass in your rib cage. I don’t know too many things that are better than a great concert.
One of my favorite local bands (who are now HUGE) is The Devil Wears Prada (TDWP). The band and the crowd that follows them never ceases to amaze me. It’s a pretty intense show but it is completely amazing.
This is one of the my favorite shots from the last show I saw of them. I love it because of the lighting, the crowd, and the pose of the lead singer.
Butterflies

I love Krohn Conservatory’s Butterfly show and every year I try to go for the photographer nights. This year I was able to make it for the last night.
The last time I went I still had my Kodak point and shoot camera, so this year when I went there was a major difference in my pictures. Not to mention I was able to take part in the lens swap!
This is one of my favorite pictures from the photographer night. I love the flower, the colors, and the position of the butterfly.
Take the Path Less Traveled

My challenge for this summer/autumn is to visit every park that my Hamilton County Parks sticker is good for.
My first stop, outside my normal parks, was Withrow Nature Perserve. It was rumored to have a Trout Lily trail, which either I did not find, it doesn’t exist, or they aren’t in bloom yet. At any rate, I had a good time walking the trails and taking pictures.
This is one of my favorite pictures from the adventure. It reminds me of the Robert Frost quote, “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.”
