Welcome to the Family

Well 242ish bucks later my car is not pouring antifreeze, which is a very good thing.

Also currently sitting on my desk at home is the iMac from Craigslist.

Yesterday morning, moments after learning the dreaded total of my car repair, I was offered a loan for the 500 to buy the iMac.  After I got over the back to back shock, I said yes to the loan and realized that I should be glad because at least I had some money saved to cover the car repair.

Honestly I got WAY more for 500 than I should have.  The iMac is probably 12x better than my powerbook and the more I play with it, the more I’ll figure out just how much better it is.

So, I’m back to saving and selling to pay for the lovely “new to me” iMac.

Here’s the newest member of my family.

Photos Sale Update

A little update…

I have found a used iMac on Craigslist. The guy is willing to take $500 in cash, if I have the money by Saturday (he’s leaving town and will probably be able to sell the iMac at his college).

Currently my car is in the shop (again!!!) and more than likely, draining every bit of the $300 I had saved for the iMac. . A miracle that my car doesn’t cost that much to fix would be nice.

The offer to sell my photos still stands, but more than anything a lot of prayers/good vibes/and whatever else you got that my car wouldn’t cost so much would be nice. It’d probably be nice to pray for me too, as I just kinda feel like I’m getting run over and I’m super bummed out.

Thanks

Buy My Pictures…Help Buy a “New To Me” Mac

Ok folks, it is offical…my wonderful Mac of 5 years is dead.  I have found some used Macs on craigslist and I have checked out the refurbished units from Apple.  As it stands currently, I am unable to truly edit anything I shoot because of my wonderful Mac dying.  (And I really missing shooting)  So to help speed the process of saving for a “new to me” Mac (which I have already started), I am selling prints of my photos.  (kinda like a spare change for gas fund that bands use)

Here’s the deal…any photo on my Flickr is available for purchase.  All money over the cost of printing goes towards helping me purchase a “new to me” Mac.

Now keep in mind there are some of my pictures that make for better wall art than others.  Some good art choices are here, but there are others out there.

If you want a picture of something specific or portraits, I can arrange that.  (Since most who read this are local.)

So here’s the prices

4×6 print is $5
5×7 print is $10
8×10 print is $15

Larger sizes we can talk about.

The Sun and It’s Bokeh

Have you ever had one of those moments where the sun peaks through the limbs of a tree and really captures your attention?  I had one of those moments on my recent adventure to the Withrow Nature Peserve.

This picture is from that moment.  I wanted to the tree limbs to be the focus so I could capture how the sun was peaking through them.  In photographic terms, I wanted to bokeh out the sun so I could show how my eye was seeing it.  (Bokeh is basically when the background is kinda blurred out so doesn’t take away from the subject of the picture.)

The Devil Wears Prada

Concert photography used to be something I did every weekend.  (Working as a team leader at a concert venue helped my ability to see and shot various bands.)

I have always loved the rush of a good concert…the lights, the energy of the crowd, and the thump of the bass in your rib cage.  I don’t know too many things that are better than a great concert.

One of my favorite local bands (who are now HUGE) is The Devil Wears Prada (TDWP).  The band and the crowd that follows them never ceases to amaze me.  It’s a pretty intense show but it is completely amazing.

This is one of the my favorite shots from the last show I saw of them.  I love it because of the lighting, the crowd, and the pose of the lead singer.
