Framed Crooked

This shot is of Vicky Beeching. I couldn’t get as close as I wanted so I attempted to make the shot more intersting by shooting it crooked.
I think it worked.
A New Favorite

Sometimes you see a shot and you hope you can catch it. You hope you catch the expression, the mood, the lighting…you hope for a brief second the shutter grabs everything in the moment.
This picture was one of those moments for me. I could see Mark really having fun and you could tell he was loving every second of it. I saw the smile start to spread and I started firing shots, hoping to catch the moment.
It may not be a perfect shot, but I simply love it.
Behind The Scenes

Behind every great performance or speaker, is a sound tech who is working hard to make them sound amazing. This shot is from last night during All the Day Holiday’s performance.
Just for the record, the sound man (my friend Gary) made them sound amazing!
Summer of Service 2008

Warning…the rest of the week you will probably notice a theme. That theme will be shots from Summer of Service aka SOS.
SOS is an event hosted by the Vineyard in Cincinnati where churches from all over (I believe 10 states this year) converge and serve Cincinnati. They offer free car washes, give out free water, clean toilets for free, and do a myarid of other service geared projects for free. They do it all in an effort to teach the youth to go the extra mile and give…and give without strings. The without strings is probably my favorite part.
So often we do stuff but we do it with strings attached. We want a certain action to come as a result of our kindness. When really we need to love because of love itself. Well before I wax all poetic, I figured since I am shooting the evening sessions all week I would go ahead and share a photo on here from each night.
Still Waters and Reflection

Saturday evening I ventured with a friend to Sharon Woods to take some pictures. I have learned some new settings with my camera and I wanted to practice them a bit.
As we were walking back to the car both of us were completely amazed at the reflection of the bridge off the water. Believe it or not the water was moving, but you can’t tell in the shot because the reflection is so clear.
Love

Here is another shot from my card collection. Honestly this is probably in my top 10 favorite shots that I have taken.
I love the coloring of the entire photo. The DOF on the blocks verses little Woody (or that’s what I like to call him). I love that you can see the textures on the blocks. I just really love this photo.
This particular was used in several cards by me and others.

Misfit Christmas
Posted by Cindy | Filed under Photographs, Stories
This past Christmas I attempted to make everyone a Christmas present. I wanted to give each person something handmade, that would cost less than what I would spend normally and then I donated the difference. I wanted to try and escape that “you spent way too much and missed the reason for Christmas” feeling you get every year.
One of the things I did was I took photos of various objects and turned them into my Christmas cards. Everyone seemed to love my cards and it encouraged me to make more. You can see all the photos I have turned into cards here.
This particular picture is my favorite picture from the Christmas set. I am a HUGE fan of the claymation cartoons and Rudolph is probably my all time favorite. I love the little misfit toys and well this just takes all my loves and puts them together.

Tom Conlon

One of my favorite indie artists is Tom Conlon. He is a friend of a friend who I now call a friend myself. I first met him 8 years ago when he played the old Underground. I am not skilled in any way shape or form at playing guitar, in fact, it is the one instrument that alludes me. Anyway, Tom is an incredible guitar player, an amazing songwriter, and someone who encourages you to with the combination of those skills.
He played a house show at my friend’s house in early May and I took some photos of his performance. The photo below is my favorite from that night and one of my all time favorite performance shots.
The lines in the picture, the colors, the dynamic of the surroundings – it all sucks me into the picture.
Pink and White

When I visisted Krohn’s Butterfly show I also took some shots of some of the flowers. This is one of those shots.
I liked this flower because of the white in the petals. The white seemed to give the petals some texture on the ends. I also like the crazy look of the inside of the flower.
Let It Rain
Posted by Cindy | Filed under Photographs, Stories
The past week or so here in Cincinnat has been filled with lots of rain and some crazy storms. Rain is not the best thing for ones camera. So I haven’t taken many pictures as of late. But one day when there was a break in the rain I decided to attempt to go take some pictures of the rain as it beaded up on the leaves outside.
I’m sure my neighbors were wondering what I was doing as I was ducking up the limbs of the tree out front and taking pictures of things they couldn’t really see.
This shot is my favorite. I guess this is the water version of Hold On.
