Senior Portraits – Heather

This week I would like to feature another senior portrait session.  Heather’s senior portraits were not only a celebrating of graduating but she also dawned her scrubs to showcase her career path.

This shot was too cute to me.  The teddy bear is actually one of her favorites from her childhood.  So here’s Heather graduating but also taking care of her teddy.

The McDaniel Family

As I said yesterday, I enjoy going to playgrounds at the end of photo sessions because it gives the kids (and adults) a chance to play.  Here is another adorable moment while at play.

Thank you to the McDaniel Family for widening my experience with great new parks in a new part of town.  May you enjoy the adventure life has set out before you.

The McDaniel Family

In case you haven’t noticed there aren’t too many things that I don’t love about photography.  I really love getting to hang out with families and capture moments in their lives.  More often than not I talk about all the things I love…sorry if it gets old. :)

I enjoy going to playgrounds at the end of photo sessions because it gives the kids (and adults) a chance to play.  More often than not, playgrounds are full of color and some of the best pictures happen there.  Today and tomorrow’s pictures are proof that just because kids are at play doesn’t mean don’t take pictures.

The McDaniel Family

Today is another one of those stolen moments liked I talked about yesterday.  I simply love the smile and joy on the little one’s face.

The McDaniel Family

I love being able to catch little moments between parents and their kids.  I love the love and tenderness that is so often expressed.  Today’s pictures shows a moment between a mother and her son.  They were enjoying a fountain in the middle of the park.

The McDaniel Family

The McDaniel Family was the first family that I had a session with that was outside of Ohio.  Granted it was only over in Indiana but it’s still a fun fact.  We visited several area parks (which one of the parks soon became my favorite park).

One thing I like to do is if I can get the parents alone for just a second, I like to take their picture.  Since we were at a huge playground the kids didn’t even notice we stopped following them around.

Kelsey – Senior Pictures

Sometimes families like to honor or bring special attention either another family member or a special cause.  Both the tattoo and the shirt were Kelsey’s tribute to a very special family member.  In fact at her family reunion her entire family had the same shirt.

People may come and go from our lives, but their impact lasts forever.  Kelsey may your life’s fingerprints leave love, compassion, laughter, and joy.

When I was taking this photograph I referred to it as the “up in your grill” shot.  I love the way it turned out.  I think it was worth the few moments I spent that were a little too close for comfort, what do you think?

In addition in trying new framing techniques we did some new post editing tricks.  Everyone has senior pictures with their name and year in the corner.  We recreated the same technique digitally which reduces cost because you don’t have to imprint the picture.  Reducing costs makes the families happy and we like happy families.

I had Kelsey laughing because I basically almost fell on butt trying to take this picture.  Apparently balance and I were not friends on this day.

I tried a few new tricks with Kelsey, like creative framing.  I really love the colors and the framing of this shot.  I will say we did have to be careful of the ground because it was nice and wet in some places because of the rain we had experienced.  This is one of my favorite shots of our session together.

I’ll explain the shirt in Friday’s post.
